Sending data to the platform

So I have a Raspberry Pi which I would like to use to send data into the Waylay platform. But I don’t really know where to start.

Hey Julia!

Firstly, welcome to the Waylay forum! :grin:

There are several ways to get data into our platform. The easiest to start with is just by using our REST endpoint like this:

curl -i --user apiKey:apiSecret  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-X POST -d '{
      "foo":123,
      "bar":"hello",
      "timestamp":1616686017000
  }' https://api-io.waylay.io/data/v1/events/testresource

This will post the foo and bar metrics to a resource with id testresource. You can ofcourse use different programming languages to do this.

For more on the data ingestion API you could check out our docs. Over there we also have documentation on other data ingestion methods like for example an MQTT broker.

Hope this helps!

Wow, thanks for the quick response! I’ll have a look at the docs, an MQTT connection sounds like the thing I need.
